MSG Gregory R. Trent, 38, U.S. Army, born in Maryland July 23, 1974, passed away from combat-related injuries on August 8, 2012. Trent was a Special Forces Senior Sergeant with 4th Battalion, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) and deployed five times for Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. While on patrol in Afghanistan, his unit was ambushed, and Trent was mortally wounded by enemy small arms fire. For his service, he earned a Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and has a memorial park named in his honor. Rest easy, Hero! Til Valhalla, Brother!
