MM3c Virgil A. Graham, 93, U.S. Navy, born in Texas July 4, 1926, passed away on
December 3, 2019. In WWII, Graham was a Motor Machinist Mate on the USS LST-600. During the Normandy invasion, he operated the ramp that allowed our tanks to land on Omaha Beach. Once offloaded, his crew ran ashore to retrieve wounded and fallen soldiers. He kept running into the fray until his back was broken when a rocket hit his ship. If not for men like Graham, the amount of U.S. casualties would be much greater. Fair winds and following seas, Shipmate! Til Valhalla, Brother!
